DO NOT TAKE GOD FOR GRANTED

God has been self honored before the creation of the earth, no one fathom how he created all the works of creation. He is the only self made and self sufficient, no other being. The glory and power of God is awesome as angles are adoring him (rev 4:8) all human being have to honor him too, but what a pity how many people Christian inclusive are taking God for granted.

1. What does it mean to take God for granted?

2. What are the consequences?

3. Benefits of horning God.

1.      WHAT DOES IT MEANS TO TAKE GOD FOR GRANTED?

It simply means to show no respect, to devalue, to take in light esteem, to be interested to break the rules and principles of God.

The attitudes of the Pharisees is quietly different from woman called “sinner” (Luke 7:37-38).

What are the good quantities in the life of the “sinful” woman?

1. Her courage – though she was rejected by many. She did not allow anyone to prevent or discourage her to honor Jesus.

Let not opinion of others prevent you from honor and build intimacy with God – your best lover

2. Her genuine repentance – Luk 7:38

She stood at his feet behind him weeping. You can’t honor God, if you have not received spiritual circumcision. Many cannot stand at the feet of Jesus and learn more of God, because they think they know more than anybody. (1 Cor 2:14). The natural man cannot receive things of the sprit. For their foolishness unto him

3. Her humbleness – (LK 7:37b) she began to wash the feet of Jesus. Those that are full of pride and ego cannot bend down and serve and they cannot be served too. No wonder many today cannot obey simple order of the Lord in the church. (Malachi 1:6) God frown at Israel while they took him for granted.

Her genuine love: (Luke 7:37c) she wiped, kissed and anointed the lord’s feet. Is your love for Jesus can go in the same way like this woman? You hardly offend someone you dearly loved but constantly give him honor and respect.

(ii)    What are the consequences of talking The lord for granted?

1. We loose, peace , joy and rest Luke 8:38

2. Loose of extra blessings – the one that shows honor to Christ receive more than Pharisees.

3. Tendency of loose fellowship and intimacy – 1 Sam 2:30

4. God spoke frankly to the house of Eli – the priest that anyone hat does not honor him shall be lightly esteemed.

(iii)   BENEFITS OF HONOURING GOD

1. Joy of true repentance Luk 7:37

2. She was allowed to come near Jesus Christ Luk 7:39. We too can be allowed

3. Peace and rest of heart Luk 8:35

4. Jesus gave her audience Luk 7:48

5. Forgiveness of sins- the Pharisees unlettered words of reproach but the Lord embraced her with compassion

Conclusion: as we regard and honor our kings and reputable men in our society, we need to be humble and change our attitude for good as this woman deed- to love God and always honor and respect him for our good. God bless.
