A disciple is a follower, learner, an apprentice, an adherent of a particular philosophy. Disciples are the people assisted progressively to become a mature and independent person. It’s an adult who has learn at the lord fits and in turn lead others through the same process that made him/her a disciple of Christ.

Disciple is the foundation for consistent Christianity and reliable followers of Christ. This is what our lord Jesus came for, for him to succeed he need followers who would be taught what he believes, and wants to do, so that they be like him. Christ himself was disciple by his heavenly father and guided by the Holy Spirit.

Discipleship is Christ’s strategic method of growing his church on a genuine platform (not just to raise aimless crowd) Matt 5:1-2, Mark 3:7-10, 13-19, Mark 7:7-9, When the crowed left Jesus, only the disciples stayed and were able to stand for Him afterwards.

Stages of called to discipleship

1. A call to salvation. mathew 11:28, romans 10:13

2. A call to discipleship (to become saint) matt 11:29, luke 14:25-33, lam 3:27-30, act 4:13 galatians 1:15-18.

3. A call to service (to become worker/minister with the assignment of making other disciples). Matthew 28:18-20, 1 john 1:1-4, Galatians 4:19.

4. A call to account (to receive commendation or condemnation, reward or reproof) matt 16:27, 1 cor. 3:14; rev. 22:12.

1. The crowd also known as church grower, are the first set of people that follow Christ for nothing but just because of what they want to receive from him and for people to see them as Christ followers. They were not giving their life to Christ. they are called to follow Christ but refuse to accept the called

2. The new convert are the second level and are also know as Christ baby. This category of people has just repent from their sin, newly forsake their hold life, and live a new life. They are the first category of people that will make eternal life if not backslide. They accept the call t

3. The disciples are is the third category of people that follows Christ. This sets of people has learn and practicing the entire do and forsaking all the don’t.  They do not argue whether something is right or wrong but always focus on what the bible say. For example, the crowd and new convert may be argue whether it’s right or wrong for a Christian sister to wear a trouser. A disciple will not argue but accept what the bible says in Duet.22:5, they make bible their constitution and guided by Holy Spirit. They become a discipler for Christ.

4. The apostle is the forth category of people that follows Christ. People at this category are specially called by the lord and has pass through all the previous stages. This people can operate in the five offices of the ministry;

1. Teachers.

2. Pastors.

3. Evangelists.

4. Prophets.

5. Apostles.

They always fill with Holy Ghost and live by Holy Spirit, know the lord minds and took permission from the lord before taking any plan, and also become a discipler for Christ.

1, Hearing the gospel (Acts 2:37)

2, Genuine repentance (Acts 3:19)

3, Baptism (Matthew 28:18-20)

4, Remain in the frame work of the living church (1thesalonians 5:11)

5, Studying the scripture (2Timothy 2:15)

6, Pray for total, complete salvation (psalm 85:7)

7, Rejoice in the salvation of God (psalm 9:14)

8, Work out your salvation with fear and trembling (Philippians 2:12)

9, Proclaim the salvation to others (psalm 67:2)

10, Grow in the salvation through his word (1Peter 2:12)

Attributes of a true disciples

Ye shall know them by their fruits. Matthew 7:16. Thus attributes of a true Disciples of Christ Jesus are the manifestation of the fruits and gifts of the Holy Spirit in their life. They edify and glory the kingdom of God with everything in their life. To break it down;

1. A true disciple of Christ will accept Christ as their lord and savor

2. A true disciple of Christ must be baptize in the spirit and water

3. A true disciple of Christ are the people that never stop learning at the lord fits

4. A true disciple of Christ is a man of prayer

5. A true disciple of Christ is the practical students of Bible. They make Bible their constitution

6. A true disciple of Christ will utilize their gifts and talent to edify the body of Christ

7. Nothing is too big for a true disciple of Christ, be it property, money, time etc. for the edification of Christ body

8. A true disciple of Christ will love their neighbor like themselves

9. A true disciple of Christ will love fellowship with other brethren

10. A true disciple of Christ will love doing evangelism

11. A true disciple of Christ will have at least one gift of the spirit and all fruits of the spirit

12. A true disciple of Christ is an obedient child of God and their life portrait the life of Christ

Every member of a Christian church / fellowship who believe, obey and practice the doctrine of Jesus Christ are the true disciples of Jesus Christ irrespective of your denomination, its then he will recognize you as his disciple.
